Grace Phelan

My name is Grace, and I am a Yuggera woman who grew up in north Brisbane/Moreton Bay. I am currently in my 4th year of a Bachelor of Social Work and am doing work in the domestic violence refuge space. Right now, I am enjoying working in DV as I have the privilege of working with some of the most amazing women I have ever met. Domestic violence is a growing issue that can impact anyone regardless of their background, however our people are especially affected due to the ongoing colonial violence we face every day. It is such a privilege to be able to advocate for and work with women and children who are directly affected by this epidemic. As for the long term, I am unsure of exactly where I want to go. I never want to tie myself down to one thing and the world of social work has so much to offer! So, I am keeping my mind open and seeing where the wind takes me.
